Techtrans to Belarus for fish products

The Republic of Belarus has benefited from an EU funded project for technology transfer. As a result a modern sensory quality laboratory meeting EU and ISO standards has now been established, and National Guidelines have been worked out for fish and fish products in Belarus covering the whole production chain from raw material to processed products.

Dianova is partner of an EU funded project for technology transfer to the Eastern European partner countries. The purpose of this project is to develop a model of consumer preferences in choosing fish and seafood through a study of various factors in the fish production chain from the stage of breeding to the plate of the consumer. The project has addressed the following topics: -

  • Sensory analyses and sensory quality models for fish and sea food products, including Quality Index Methods;
  • Predictive analysis models for spoilage and pathogenic organisms (e.g. Listeria);
  • Nutritional value of fish and sea food: product composition of fatty acids, proteins and micronutrients;
  • Communication to the consumer: study of consumer preferences; consumer perception analyses of fish and seafood products.

In the project Dianova has cooperated with the Scientific-Practical Center for Foodstuffs of Belarus and provided technical expertise on predictive modelling of pathogen behavior (e.g. Listeria) in raw and processed fish and fish products, establishment of an up-to-standards sensory quality laboratory, and on market and consumer preference analyses.

Targeted training of staff by e-learning and courses in Denmark has been provided in Predictive Microbiology, Sensory Analysis, Aquatic Food Processing and Technology, and more.

As a result a modern sensory quality laboratory meeting EU and ISO standards has now been established, and National Guidelines have been worked out for fish and fish products in Belarus covering the whole production chain from raw material to processed products.
